3D Printing services

What is 3D printing?

3D printing, also known as additional manufacturing, is a process that creates parts by building them layer by layer from digital models. Unlike traditional manufacturing methods such as machining or injection moulding, which remove or shape material, 3D printing adds material only where it is needed, reducing waste and enabling complex shapes that would otherwise be impossible to produce

This flexibility makes 3D printing ideal for:

  • Rapid prototyping – bringing ideas to life in days rather than weeks
  • Low-volume production – manufacturing small batches without tooling costs.
  • Functional testing – evaluating form, fit and performance before committing to large-scale production
  • Custom and replacement parts – producing unique or discontinued items quickly and affordably
  • Toys and figurines – creating detailed models, collectibles, or character prototypes with fine surface finishes.
  • Branded items for companies – such as coasters, pen pots, keyrings, and desk accessories for corporate gifts or promotional use.

From prototype to production, we turn your ideas into reality with advanced additive manufacturing.

At LBFG, we specialise in 3D printing services for businesses and individuals who need high-quality, precise parts without the cost or delay of traditional manufacturing. Based in the UK and backed by over 20 years of plastics engineering expertise, we help you create functional prototypes, end-use components and small to medium production runs using cutting-edge additive manufacturing technologies.

How our 3D printing service work

Working with LBFG is simple and flexible. Our engineers guide you through every stage of the process to ensure the result meets your exact needs.

  • We review the design files or concept
  • We recommend materials based on your project particulars
  • We provide a detailled quotation
  • Once approved, we print your parts in-house or through our trusted partners
  • Every part is quality checked and shipped directly to you

We will soon be introducing an updated and upgraded automated quoting system on our website that will allow users to order parts in just a few clicks.

FDM

Fused Deposition Modelling

FDM is the most affordable and widely used 3D printing process, perfect for fast turnaround of functional prototypes, mechanical components, and large models. It’s ideal for jigs, fixtures, decoration items and enclosures where surface finish is secondary to strength and cost-efficiency. A great choice for early-stage development, engineering validation and everyday printing.

SLA

Stereolithography

SLA delivers high-resolution prints with exceptional surface smoothness, making it ideal for intricate parts that require precision and aesthetic quality. Commonly used in miniatures, product design, dental, and jewellery prototyping, SLA is the go-to for projects where fine details matter and visual presentation is important. A point to note, lightly coloured parts will yellow if exposed to UV light.

SLS

Selective Laser Sintering

SLS creates durable, functional parts from nylon powder without the need for support structures, enabling complex geometries and interlocking components. It’s especially suited for snap-fits, working hinges, and low-volume end-use parts. SLS balances performance, design freedom, and production-grade reliability in one process.

MJF

Multi Jet Fusion

MJF produces strong, detailed nylon parts with excellent dimensional accuracy and a smooth matte finish. Ideal for functional prototypes, housings, and production components, it also supports post-processing options like dyeing, smoothing, and polishing. MJF is an excellent choice for short-run manufacturing and parts requiring a high-end finish.
